Angela Blount is originally from Brooklyn, New York. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialty in Addiction from Walden University. She is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern with the State of Florida. She has experience treating children, adolescents and adults with diverse backgrounds and ranges of concerns. With over 14 years of experience working in higher education, Angela has a special interest in college students who experience issues with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, relationship conflicts and substance abuse.
Angela creates a comfortable and genuine therapeutic environment free of judgement and conducive to healing. Her energy and passion for the mental health profession is evident by the unconditional positive regard she provides to every client she encounters. Angela facilitates sessions that are empowering, insightful and challenging. Her approach to therapy is integrative and includes person-centered, cognitive behavioral, motivational interviewing, solution-focused and psychodynamic therapies. Angela’s use of various techniques allow her to customize treatment to fit the specific needs of the client. Angela is a professional member of the American Counseling Association. Her passion is to affect change in the inner city community by providing education and awareness about the importance of mental health. She is currently working on a doctorate in Human and Social Services with a concentration in Mental Health Facilitation. She continues to educate herself by attending national and local conferences, staying current on the evolving trends in counseling, and seeking supervision.
Angela enjoys traveling, working out, spending time with her husband, and playing with her dog (Champ). She has developed an interest in academic coaching that includes college preparation and student success. She enjoys women empowerment specifically in the areas of health and wellness.
